§ Mr. Wareingasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement on the proposals of the European Commission in respect of cross-border mergers.
§ Mr. AtkinsThe European Commission put forward a draft Regulation on the control of concentrations between undertakings (the "Merger Control" Regulation) in 1973. Various amendments have since been made to the text, on which explanatory memoranda have been deposited in the House. The European Commission have asked the Council to reach a decision by the end of November on whether or not to continue discussions on the draft regulation.
