§ Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make it his policy to support the submission to the European Commission from local authorities in the Manchester area for a separate national programme of community interest relating to textile areas in order to consolidate the work begun by the textile non quota programme.
§ Mr. TrippierIn submitting national programmes of community interest to the European Commission, the Government are mindful of the needs and available resources of all local authorities within a particular region. My officials will be happy to consider and discuss the proposals made by the six Greater Manchester metropolitan district councils which currently benefit from the special textile measure, in the light of other proposals for ERDF programmes in the north-west.
