HC Deb 21 October 1987 vol 120 c810W
Mr. Rooker

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many kidney patients with a treatable condition have been rejected by National Health Service hospitals in Birmingham in the last year for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Currie

I regret that this information is not available centrally. The Government are fully committed to the expansion of services for patients with end stage renal failure. In 1986 the West Midlands regional health authority reached the required national target for accepting new patients on to its renal programme and is investing additional resources of some £640,000 this year in support of its programme.
