§ 73. Mr. GrahamTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what action his Department is taking in order to ensure an adequate supply of British caught fresh fish for human consumption in terms of both the domestic and export markets.
§ Mr. GummerThe common fisheries policy which we negotiated in January 1983 ensures a favourable share of the available fish stocks in waters of Community member states and certain third countries for British fishermen. We shall maintain that share and continue to take the lead in conservation and policing measures which safeguard the future of the industry.
