HC Deb 12 November 1987 vol 122 cc265-6W
Mr. Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) when the new regulations designed to supersede the Nursing Homes Registration Regulations (Scotland) 1938, the Nursing Homes Registration (Scotland) Amendment Regulation 1974 and the Nursing Homes Registration (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1981, will be made;

(2) if he will make it his policy when amending the Nursing Homes Registration Regulations (Scotland) 1938, to increase the supervision by local health boards over private nursing homes in their area.

Mr. Rifkind

The recent review of the subordinate legislation governing the registration of private nursing homes proposed an extension of the controls health boards may exercise over the conduct and inspection of nursing homes, and the facilities and services provided there.

I hope to make new regulations shortly.
