To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many persons accompanied the Minister for Sport to the World Cup cricket final in Calcutta; and what was the cost to public funds of this visit.

I was unaccompanied on my visit to Calcutta for the final of the Cricket World Cup. I travelled on a club-class ticket and the total bill for my travelling arrangements was £1,682. There were no additional costs.
