§ Mr. Peter BottomleyDriving hours, breaks and rest periods of all PSV drivers, whether full-time or part-time, are subject to regular checks by the police and traffic examiners. Traffic examiners make roadside checks and also visit operators' premises to check tachograph charts and drivers work records. Batches of tachograph charts are also checked by the tachograph screening equipment in traffic area offices or computer bureaux. Any irregularities discovered are followed up and reported for possible prosecution.
83WAbout 100,000 PSV drivers tachograph charts will be checked in 1987–88 which is substantially more than the number checked in 1986–87.
