Forty-nine of the National Bus Company's 72 subsidiaries have now been sold, 29 of them to management or employee teams.

NBC's report and accounts, which were published on 27 October, forecast that all sales will be completed well before the statutory deadline of January 1989, and that total proceeds will substantially exceed the book value of assets sold.

I congratulate NBC on the excellent progress it has made.
