§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe current normal maximum motorway speed limit was fully reviewed in 1984 and 1985. It was concluded that the 70 mph limit achieved the right balance between safety and the need for efficient and convenient travel. We have no plans to change the current normal maximum limit.
