§ Mr. DunnThe requirements for the provision of playing fields for maintained schools are set out in the Education (School Premises) Regulations 1981. The areas required for individual schools are determined by the number and age of the pupils. Additional guidance on the quantity and quality of provision is offered in the Department's building bulletin No. 28, "Playing Fields and Hard Surface Areas".
