§ Mr. PortilloAdministrative statistics show that a total of 125,838 appeals were heard and decided in Great Britain in 1986. Of these, 31,675 (25.2 per cent.) were determined in the claimant's favour.
National administrative statistics of social security appeals are not disaggregated for areas smaller than a social security region. In the north eastern region in 1986, a total of 20,040 appeals were heard and decided, of which 4,653 (23.2 per cent.) were found in favour of the claimant.
