HC Deb 05 November 1987 vol 121 c851W
Mr. Butler

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has on the date to which the United States Surgeon-General has projected the cases of AIDS infection in that country; and whether he will make it his policy to make similar projections for the United Kingdom.

Mr. Newton

The United States Public Health Service has published estimates of the numbers of AIDS cases in that country up to 1991. These estimates have wide margins of error which increase towards the later years. Our policy is that predictions should be made only as and when justified by the available scientific data.
