asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many representations he has received in respect of his proposals to amend the licensing law in England and Wales.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he expects to publish the Bill on the reform of licensing hours; and how many representations have been made to him thereon.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he plans to introduce the Licensing Bill.

Details of the Government's proposals for the reform of the licensing law were published on 4 August and 528 representations relating to the proposals have been received since that date.

The Licensing Bill was introduced in this House on Thursday 29 October.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action he is taking to ensure that companies owning licensed premises do not require their tenants or managers to maintain opening hours at all periods permitted by law.

This is a matter for negotiation between the parties concerned. I understand that negotiations are in progress and the parties are hopeful that a satisfactory solution will be found.
