HC Deb 05 November 1987 vol 121 c821W
30. Mr. Sackville

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has drawn up terms of reference for the proposed national crime prevention organisation.

Mr. John Patten

We are not yet ready to do so formally, but it seems likely that the functions of the new body will include identifying good practice in local crime prevention and ensuring that it is promulgated widely, advising local communities, businesses, voluntary bodies and local authorities on strategies for tackling local crime problems, raising and distributing pump-priming funds for initiatives on local crime prevention and advising both central and local government on local crime prevention issues.

62. Mr. Harris

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he intends to announce the composition of the national crime prevention organisation.

Mr. John Patten

We hope to be able to do so before the end of this year.
