§ 39. Mr. Andrew MacKayasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his policy on the introduction of horse racing on Sundays.
§ Mr. John PattenProvided suitable arrangements are made for betting to take place lawfully, we see no reason to stand in the way of horse racing on Sundays. That is the view we have expressed on the Bill introduced in another place by Lord Wyatt of Weeford and we are following the debate about that Bill and the public debate which has arisen with interest. We have no plans at present to introduce legislation on this subject.
