Job Release Scheme

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on the future of the job release scheme.

As announced by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the scheme will close on 31 January 1988. All existing applications will be considered, but new applications can be considered only if the proposed date of early retirement is no later than 31 January 1988, except that applications made between 3 and 17 November 1987 with a release date up to 31 March 1988 may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
