§ Mr. Home Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what has been the annual change in available resources, taking into account the inflation of hospital and community health service costs, in the provision of the hospital and community health service in the Lothian health board area for each year since 1979.
§ Mr. Michael Forsyth[holding answer 2 November 1987]: No record is maintained of pay and price movements within the NHS in Scotland and it would not, in any event, be appropriate to apply a national index of pay and price movements to expenditure figures for individual health boards because the composition of that expenditure may differ substantially from the national average. The following table shows the year-on-year change in Lothian health board's revenue allocation for hospital and community health services, after adjustment for inflation as measured by the GDP deflator.
