HC Deb 04 November 1987 vol 121 cc785-6W
Mr. Hood

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what reports he has received from the Civil Aviation Authority concerning radar, radio and telephone problems at air traffic control centres in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

These matters fall within the day-to-day management responsibility of the Civil Aviation Authority and it does not therefore make such reports to my right hon. Friend as a matter of routine. He is informed of major failures in the system. Improved reliability of equipment may sometimes form part of the justification for investment proposals which require his approval.
