§ Mr. Thurnhamasked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will take urgent steps to seek to improve motorway vehicle flow in the vicinity of the M6/M61 junction.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyVehicle flow at this point can only be improved by increasing the capacity of the junction. A scheme to deal with this problem and to widen and improve the M6 between this junction and junction 32646W (Broughton) was added to the national trunk road programme by "Policy for Roads in England: 1987" (Cm. 125). Consultant engineers have been appointed and this scheme will be progressed as quickly as possible.
