HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 cc505-6W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will estimate the cost of importing foreign textiles for each of the years from 1979.

Mr. Atkins

Imports of textiles for each year since 1979, by value, are given in the following table.

The Attorney-General

Legal aid is not available for proceedings before tribunals in connection with immigration matters, but may be granted in relation to an application to the High Court for judicial review of a decision of an immigration appeal tribunal or in relation to any appeal from the court's decision on such an application. Advice and assistance on immigration matters is available from a solicitor under the green form scheme to any person of small or moderate means.

The cost of genetic DNA tests may be met under the green form scheme where, in any particular case, the normal financial limits for advice and assistance are extended for that purpose, but the decision whether or not to grant such an extension in any case rests with the legal aid administration of the Law Society.
