Member for Bradford, South on 26 October, what reasons were given for the rejection by the Property Services Agency of a rail link sharing the former Bradford Exchange station site with a courthouse; whether at any stage a threat was made expressly or by implication that the courthouse project would be moved to Kirklees if the Property Service Agency's views were not accepted; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ChopeThe advice that the Property Services Agency gave to the City of Bradford metropolitan district council was that, in its professional judgment, the site could not accommodate both a rail link and a courthouse to meet the requirements of the Lord Chancellor's Department. The decision on the appropriate use of the site was a matter for the council.
