HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c585W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to the answer to the hon. Member for Bradford, South on 26 October, what reasons were given for the rejection by the Property Services Agency of a rail link sharing the former Bradford Exchange station site with a courthouse; whether at any stage a threat was made expressly or by implication that the courthouse project would be moved to Kirklees if the Property Service Agency's views were not accepted; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Chope

The advice that the Property Services Agency gave to the City of Bradford metropolitan district council was that, in its professional judgment, the site could not accommodate both a rail link and a courthouse to meet the requirements of the Lord Chancellor's Department. The decision on the appropriate use of the site was a matter for the council.
