HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c520W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what information he has as to what payments have been made in Essex from the rural transport development fund; for which routes; and for what purposes.

Mr. David Mitchell

No payments have been made from the rural transport development fund for schemes in Essex. Two applications are being considered at present by the Development Commission, for a community bus serving the Ongar area and a rural taxi-sharing scheme in the Rochford area. A further application is expected for a taxibus service in the Manningtree area. I welcome increasing interest in the assistance available from the £1 million fund of Department of Transport finance managed by the Development Commission.
