HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c546W
Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what instructions he has given to officials responsible for enforcing the ban on the carriage of monofilament nets following the decision of the Stranraer sheriff court that the relevant order is invalid; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

As the procurator fiscal has marked an appeal against the sheriff's decision it is not necessary to issue further instructions to enforcement officers. They will continue to apply the terms of the relevant order pending the matter coming before the High Court of Justiciary. In the circumstances it would not be appropriate to make a statement.
