Mr. Ron Davies

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list all grant-aided and non grant-aided forestry schemes operating in the United Kingdom at present, indicating where applicable the nature of consultation procedures involved prior to planting.

[holding answer, 26 October 1987]Grant aid for forestry in Great Britain is provided under the Forestry Commission's forestry grant scheme and broadleaved woodland grant scheme. The consultation procedures are set out in the Forestry Commission booklet "Consultation Procedures", a copy of which is being placed in the Library of the House. Similar grant schemes operate in Northern Ireland, but these are not subject to formal consultation procedures.

I am not aware of any non grant-aided forestry schemes.
