HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c521W
Mr. Vaz

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if in view of the decision of Leicestershire county council to implement proposals for the A46-A47 link road to pass through the eastern part of Leicester, he will initiate a public inquiry.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The A46–A47 link road is the responsibility of Leicestershire county council as highway authority.

I understand that it intends to hold public consultations on the recently adopted preferred route.

A public inquiry would be held into a published compulsory purchase order if objections are received which are not resolved. Local authority orders are subject to the confirmation of the Secretary of State.
