§ Mr. MellorThe decision to issue protective clothing to all prison establishments was taken as part of a package of preventive measures designed to protect prison officers against possible infection from hepatitis B or by the AIDS virus. While protective clothing will rarely be medically indicated, it has been made available in establishments for use when judged necessary.
