HC Deb 05 May 1987 vol 115 c320W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what are his Department's scheduled starting dates, respectively, for improvements on the A487, for (a) the Felinheli bypass, (b) the Pont Selont improvements, (c) the Penygroes Uanllyfni bypass, (d) the Porthmadog bypass and (e) the Felinheli-Caernarfon south improvement; arid what priority Gwynedd county council has indicated to his Department for all five of these schemes.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

The A487 Port Dinorwic bypass (ie, Felinheli bypass), the A487 Seiont bridge and approaches scheme and the A487 Caernarfon-south of Port Dinorwic improvement are all expected to start in the period January 1988 to December 1990 in accordance with "Roads in Wales 1985". The start dates will depend on the completion of statutory procedures and scheme design and the availability of finance. Bypass schemes for Penygroes, Llanllyfni and Porthmadog are not included in the forward programme but the case for such improvements is being considered in drawing up the programme for the 1990s. In response to the consultation paper "Roads for Wales - The 1990s and Beyond", Gwynedd county council urged that projects programmed to start before 1990 should start as planned and indicated that bypasses for Porthmadgc, Penygroes and Llanllyfni were of equal priority for a start in the early 1990s.
