HC Deb 05 May 1987 vol 115 cc339-40W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the way in which the Property Services Agency and contractors conducted the sale of equipment used for building the airport at Mount Pleasant in the Falklands.

Mr. Chope

Most of the equipment used in the building of the Mount Pleasant airport was bought, and consequently owned, by the contractor, Laing-Mowlem-ARC Joint Venture. Disposal of that equipment is entirely a matter for the joint venture.

In respect of surplus stores and equipment sold by PSA, I refer to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Newham, North-West (Mr. Banks) on 24 November at column 43. That sale realised net receipts to the Exchequer of just over £500,000.
