§ Mr. Williamsasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the complement of lawyers in the Customs and Excise; how many of these posts are unfilled; and what percentage of lawyers in post have been in the Civil Service for five years or more.
§ Mr. Lawson[pursuant to his reply, 30 March 1987, c. 394]: The complement of lawyers in Customs and Excise is 83: seven of these posts are unfilled. The percentage of lawyers in post with five or more years' service is 63 per cent. Six of the seven vacancies are expected to be filled under a current recruitment exercise.
