§ 25. Mr. David Atkinsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will raise with his Soviet counterpart during his forthcoming visit to Moscow the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan; and if he will make a statement.
§ Sir Geoffrey HoweI refer my hon. Friend to the answer that my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister gave to the hon. Member for Liverpool, Riverside (Mr. Parry) on 11 March at column 225.
§ 43. Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent discussions he has had with the Government of Pakistan about the situation in Afghanistan and the problem of refugees from Afghanistan.
§ Mr. EggarWe remain in close touch with the Pakistan Government. As I told the House in the Adjournment debate on 5 March, Afghan refugees continue to flee into Pakistan: at least 85,000 over the last year. We condemn the recent callous and bloody bombing raids into Pakistan, which killed over 110 innocent civilians and Afghan refugees, and cast a pall over Soviet professions to want a peaceful settlement.
