HL Deb 12 March 1987 vol 485 c1205WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have drawn the 1979 Recommendation of the Council of Europe on the search of missing persons to the attention of chief officers of police who they say (Earl of Caithness, HL Deb. 18th February col. 1199) are responsible for considering it.

The Earl of Caithness

The views of the Metropolitan Police, who act as a central coordinating unit in the case of missing persons, were sought during the consultations which preceded the adoption of this recommendation. It was apparent that established police practices were in line with what was proposed. The Metropolitan Police were informed of the terms of the recommendation when it was adopted.
