(2) why he decided not to call in the planning application by Brent council to build houses on the General motors sports ground. near Kenton in Brent and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waldegrave

The Secretary of State did not call in the General Motors sports ground application in 1983 because he decided, after careful consideration, that it was a local matter which it was appropriate to leave to the local authority. However, the Secretary of State considered that the questions of the loss of additional open space and the further departure from the development plan which would result from the development of the Abbey National sports ground were matters which he should consider.
