HC Deb 09 March 1987 vol 112 c54W
Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what changes have been made recently in respect of cleaning contracts within the Palace of Westminster; what is the total cost of all such cleaning contracts; and whether he will list all the firms who have cleaning contracts in the Palace of Westminster.

Mr. Chope

The Parliamentary Works Office is responsible for the cleaning of common areas and some offices in the Palace of Westminster and the parliamentary outbuildings. Apart from some minor variations made for operational reasons, there have been no changes since July 1986 to the contract for cleaning these areas held by ICC (Cleaning Services) Ltd.

A cleaning contract on behalf of the House of Commons Refreshment Department has been awarded by the Crown Suppliers to Initial Services Cleaners Ltd.

The value of the contracts is a commercial matter.
