§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe Department's proposals include large laybys every 5 km to cater for the high proportion of HGVs expected to use this route. On an all-purpose trunk road such as this it would be for private developers to take the initiative in providing filling stations, cafes and similar facilities, subject to the normal planning considerations. Several potential developers have already shown interest.
