asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the expenditure of the Surrey Family Practitioner Service in (a) 1979, (b) 1983 and the latest date for which information is available; and what was the average size of patient list on each of those dates.

Expenditure for family practitioner services within the locality of Surrey Family Practitioner Committee for the respective years 1979–80, 1983–84 and 1985–86, which is the latest year for which information is available, was as follows: £34,198,470; £57,612,352; and £66,369,149. The average general medical practitioner list size in those years was 2,195, 2,101 and 2,061 respectively.
