asked the Minister for the Arts what he estimates to be the net cost of Arts Council support, taking into account returns to the Treasury accruing from expenditure of the Arts Council grant.

Mr. Luce

It is difficult to make a detailed estimate, but research commissioned by the Arts Council, and still under discussion, suggests that the return to the Exchequer is significant.
