HL Deb 02 March 1987 vol 485 c507WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the "increasingly hostile air threats foreseen through the 1990s and beyond" mentioned by Lord Trefgarne in a Written Answer of 15th December last (col. 95).

The Minister of State for Defence Procurement (Lord Trefgarne)

By the 1990s we expect to face fixed wing aircraft and helicopters able to fly lower and faster than their present equivalents. They are also likely to be better armed and protected. This represents a significant qualitative increase in the threat to our ground forces.
