§ Mr. Frank Fieldasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will detail the number and percentage of youth opportunities programme and youth training scheme graduates who (a) gain employment, (b) go on to further training, (c) return to (i) full-time and (ii) part-time education, (d) become unemployed and (e) went on to other destinations for each of the last 10 years; and if these dates can be further analysed by social class of the graduate's parents.
§ Mr. Cope[pursuant to his reply, 23 July 1987]: Information is not available in the precise form requested.
The information on the destination of trainees after leaving the youth opportunities programme or youth training scheme is given in the table. The figures relating to the youth opportunities programme are taken from a postal follow-up survey of trainees, conducted 12 months after they joined the programme. Information on the youth training scheme is taken from a regular postal follow-up survey, covering 15 per cent. of leavers. From April 1985 the survey was extended to cover all (100 per cent.) youth training scheme leavers.
677W4 100 per cent. national follow-up of youth training scheme leavers.
5 No separate analysis of part-time employment carried out.
6 Although there was no separate question on part-time work, the answer was written by 1 per cent. leavers.
7 A separate question on part-time work was introduced for the first time in this survey.
It is not possible further to analyse this data by the social class of the graduate's parents.
