HC Deb 23 July 1987 vol 120 c399W
Mr. Ron Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many incidents of water pollution by farm wastes were recorded in each of the years 1980 to 1986, and in 1987 to date, in Wales; how many of these incidents were attributable to pollution by silage effluent, and by slurry; and how many of these incidents were the subject of warning letters and prosecutions.

Mr. Grist

The number of incidents of water pollution by agricultural waste recorded in 1984, 1985 and 1986 were 327, 464 and 404, respectively. Figures for 1987 are not yet available. Detailed information of the incidents and prosecutions, and figures for the previous years, are not held centrally, but may be obtained from the Welsh water authority.
