HC Deb 23 July 1987 vol 120 c429W
Mr. Worthington

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the percentage share of National Health Service costs allocated to the Scottish ambulance service; and how this compares with percentage expenditure in England and Wales.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

[pursuant to his reply, 22 July 1987]: In 1985–86, the latest year for which comparative figures are available, the Scottish ambulance service received 1.24 per cent. of total expenditure on the National Health Service in Scotland by comparison with 1.85 per cent. in England and 2.16 per cent. in Wales.

In the current financial year, the Scottish ambulance service will receive an estimated 1.35 per cent. of total expenditure.
