HC Deb 20 July 1987 vol 120 c32W
27. Mr. Wallace

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what representations he has received regarding the future of the lighthouse services in the United Kingdom.

Mr. David Mitchell

My right hon. Friend's predecessor received representations from the Lights Advisory Committee, which represents the shipping and port industries, about the need to contain the costs of the general lighthouse authorities and thus keep down the level of light dues. More recently the committee has proposed a review of the navigational aids provided by the authorities.
