§ Mr. Douglas HoggThe law on shotguns is kept under close review and we are pursuing two initiatives. By amendment to the firearms rules, we shall shortly be introducing a requirement that shotgun certificate holders should notify any change of address to the chief officer or police. Secondly, a Home Office working party, on which the police and the British Shooting Sports Council are represented, is examining what measures should be taken to improve the security of shotguns when they are not being used, including the need for a statutory safe-keeping requirement.
