Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list all National Health Service hospitals (a) of over 800 beds, and (b) which have been added to since 1980 to make the combined old and new building over 800 beds.

Information available centrally shows that the acute-general hospitals listed provide over 800 beds. Of these Ipswich hospital, Addenbrookes hospital, Queens medical centre and Leicester general hospital have had phases added since 1980 to bring their total number of beds over 800.
