§ Mr. Irvingasked the Secretary of State for Social Services when the National Aids Trust last met; whether a director for the National Aids Trust has been appointed; what progress or action the National Aids Trust has made or taken; whether the fund raising committee has met and what developments it made; whether the voluntary and support bodies in the field are prepared to co-operate with the National Aids Trust; and what consideration is being made to the problems in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
§ Mr. NewtonI understand that those who have agreed to serve as trustees have held two meetings and that a further meeting is to be held this month. The National Aids Trust will be an independent charitable body and will shortly be advertising for a chief executive. I understand that considerable progress has been made in formulating policies and priorities and that initial discussions with others in the voluntary sector have been fruitful. There is, of course, a good deal of work still to be done.
The trust is being established as a United Kingdom body and will therefore give consideration to the problems in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. The trust's chairman is Sir Austin Bide. He can be contacted through the Trust's offices at
