§ Mr. Woodasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make it his policy to establish a code of conduct for British hotels in respect of charging clients for telephone and similar non-accommodation costs.
§ Mr. LeeThe Government support the hotel industry's voluntary code of booking practice, which was updated and revised in 1986. This code of practice stipulates that special charges for telephone and other non-accommodation costs should he drawn to the attention of guests. The Government do not, however, have any plans to introduce a code in respect of the charges themselves. Pricing policy, including charges for telephone and similar non-accommodation costs, is a matter for the hotel industry.
