HL Deb 09 July 1987 vol 488 c822WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have received an advance copy of a study to be published by the National Anti-Vivisection Society next month which is alleged to assert that AIDS came into existence as a result of virus experiments in an American Research Laboratory and when they have studied the report whether they will consider its effect on the Written Answer by Baroness Trumpington at col. 850 of Hansard of 12th February 1987.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Security (Lord Skelmersdale)

Her Majesty's Government have not yet seen the full study by the National Anti-Vivisection Society. However, the Government have considered a short article based on that study which contains nothing to cause the Government to depart from the view stated by my noble friend.
