§ Mrs. Peacockasked the Scretary of State for Education and Science what is his policy towards the early specialisation entailed by the present system of A-levels.
§ Mrs. RumboldThe Government are concerned to broaden the curriculum of A-level students without diluting academic standards. They have announced the introduction in September next of a new examination course, Advanced Supplementary level. The new courses should increase the range of options open to A-level students and give them new opportunities to continue the study to A-level standard of subjects which contrast with or complement their main field of study. The first examinations will be held in summer 1989.
