HC Deb 12 January 1987 vol 108 cc44-5W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if member states will be required to notify the Commission of the prices at which foodstuffs are sold from intervention stocks to particular destinations under the arrangements agreed at the Council meeting on 16 December; and if the member states concerned will require to accept any financial responsibility for such sales.

Mr. Gummer

The Council did not agree any specific stock disposal measures but took note, with approval, of a Commission paper outlining certain plans for the disposal of butter stocks, the details of which have still to be determined. In accordance with normal practice, the Commission itself is responsible for setting prices for sales out of intervention, in the light of the advice of the appropriate management committee. The question of financial responsibility was dealt with in my reply to my hon. Friend on 19 December 1986 at column 832.
