HL Deb 25 February 1987 vol 485 c318WA
Lord Diamond

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will list the areas where permitted discrimination on grounds of sex "disadvantages men" as stated by the Earl of Caithness on 5th February 1987 (col. 326).

The Earl of Caithness

The observation referred to areas where discrimination is not unlawful and where, if given effect, either men or women may suffer disadvantages. The arrangements for state pensions and kindred benefits and the transfer of various dignities to a spouse may disadvantage men.
