HC Deb 10 February 1987 vol 110 c156W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans to seek to amend the provisions of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 regarding the security of tenure afforded to small businesses whose leases are in the names of the proprietors of the company trading from the premises; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Patten

My Department reviewed all the provisions in part II of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 as recently as 1985, with particular reference to small businesses. It was concluded that generally the Act works well and that there are insufficient grounds for an immediate revision, but we continue to monitor its operation as to the need for any future amendments.
